RAW Comedy, Bangkok’s weekly Open Mic, has been noted as the backbone of Bangkok’s ever growing comedy scene with shows every Wednesday 8pm at the Live Lounge (above Sportsmans Bar Sukhumvit 13 BTS NANA). This room acts as the testing grounds for new material, where comics of all skill level, from brand new to world class professionals openly perfect their formula. This room has become the birthplace for countless jokes by countless comedians from all over the world. Every Wednesday find an array of international comedians performing for an audience of equal diversity.
RAW came to life by the hands of comedians Justin St. Denis (Canada) and Chris Raufeisen (USA/Thailand). Hungry to get better, and hungry for more time on stage, these two teamed up to create a weekly working room giving new comics ample stage time and providing a space for seasoned vets to freely perfect their stagecraft. Raw is the ideal atmosphere, every show is an intimate experience with tons of engagement from the crowd, and this laid back ambiance allows comics to comfortably take risks with new and edgy material. But this room is more than an open mic, it has evolved into a community and network of comedians and show-goers, sharing in drink and laughs in a low stakes comedy environment. RAW owes its success to our audience, some new, some die hard regulars, and RAW’s core group of talented comedians constantly writing fresh new material, along with guest appearances from numerous travelling acts, making every show unique and different from the last. RAW Comedy is also the proud proprietor of BANGKOK ROAST BATTLE, Bangkok’s new live comedy excursion pitting 2 comics in a head to head insult battle. Complete with judges, sound effects and all the pageantry of an MMA cage-fight, BANGKOK ROAST BATTLE is a one of a kind event with sidesplitting jokes, comebacks and exchanges with more laughs per minute than any other spectacle in the city of angels.
